basics of Chemistry (course taught in first year)
Course Objectives | |
Knowing the different possible surface treatments based on chemistry and more specifically oxido-reduction for metallic materials.
Syllabus | |
- Basics of oxidation reduction: electrochemical cells, electrolysis - Passivation / corrosion - Pourbaix diagrams |
|
Practical work (TD or TP)
- industrial applications: galvanizing and alloyed zinc deposits nickel plating chromium plating |
|
Acquired skills | |
- determine from the Pourbaix diagrams the behavior of metals according to the acidity of the environment - establish the electrolysis parameters required for the desired deposition thickness - propose a choice of surface treatment to be made according to the material and the field of use |
