Course Objectives
Introduction to polymler science.
Basics around the Synthesis-Structure-Properties relationship of polymer materials.
Description of the major classes of polymer families.
Syllabus
I- Introduction: definition, history, classification of organic polymers by origins, fields of application, dimensionality, compositions, thermomechanical behavior.
II- Notion of macromolecule: molar mass and mass distribution, architecture of a macromolecule,
III- Covalent bonds and cohesive forces
IV-Configuration and stereoregularity of macrocromolecules
V-Syntheses of macromolecules: chain polymerization and polycondensation
VI- Structure of polymers: amorphous and semi-crystalline polymers (glass transition temperature and melting temperature.
Practical work (TD or TP)
Required prerequisites for 2nd year polymer (theoretical and practical) courses (materials or chemistry)
Acquired skills
Basic Knowledge of Polymer Materials Science (Synthesis and Characterisation Methods)
First Approach to properties and physical behaviors.
